I recently spent 3 nights / 4 days at a lovely cabin on Galiano Island: it was my own personal yoga/meditation retreat time. A great environment to read, walk, rest, meditate & nap!
I thought I would share this gem with all of you just in case you have wanted to get away, but not wanted to drive far and still feel safe & sound. Personally I love the ferry ride: crossing the water makes it feel like a real get away . . . and not having to drive 2 to 3 hours!
. . . in fact you can leave your car at Tsawwassan . . . and walk on or ride your bike. . . . . . the cabin is hardly a slow paced 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal . . . past a bakery. . . book store . . . , ice cream shop. . . and then gently winds away. The cabin overlooks a small bay . . . a spacious deck allows you to sit outside & bask in the sun or explore some yoga poses facing the sea and under a canopy of beautiful trees. Within a minute you can be at the shorline putting the canoe in for a gentle paddle. A five minute walk gets you to the beach & crashing waves! You'll find an organic store within a 30 minute walk along Sturdies Bay Path. Or hop on the bike & ride to your heart's content!
A lovely start & finish was that : from my house (Burnaby near Bonsor) to the cabin was 3 hours . . . and the cabin to my house 2.5 hours!! An added bonus is the FREE ferry reservation!
The cabin's name: Serendipity: Clean, simply & attractively decorated, little pot belly stove (wood stacked outside), spacious bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, such a comfy big bed! and a great futon/day bed in the main room(perfect for afternoon naps!). I set my meditation pillow in front of the big window and it became my favourite place! . . . even in the rain with the wind howling through the trees I felt all my stresses melt away!
Lots of peace & serenity & grace here.
